Great Northern Bridgeworks was contracted to complete critical rehabilitation work on a 120-foot client-owned bridge located on the 2500 Road. The project included sourcing custom materials, mobilizing specialized equipment, replacing damaged guardrails with custom timber guardrails and bridge fenders, installing new bridge signage, and performing repairs using our custom engineered and certified excavator-mounted man basket for safe access beneath the structure.
The project was successfully delivered on time, allowing the client to proceed with its logging program without delay.
The Challenge
The bridge had been de-rated due to structural damage, reducing its allowable load capacity and threatening access to active logging areas. The project required custom-cut treated lumber, fabricated hardware, and purpose-built bridge signage, all of which needed to be sourced, manufactured, and delivered within a compressed schedule.
Completing the work safely also required reliable access to the underside of the bridge in a remote location.
Our Solution
Our team reviewed the bridge inspection report to develop a comprehensive repair plan and material list. We coordinated the sourcing of custom-treated timber, fabricated specialty hardware, and arranged production of custom bridge signage before mobilizing all required materials and equipment to site.
Using our custom certified excavator-mounted man basket, crews safely accessed the underside of the bridge to complete repairs and perform a detailed visual inspection. Careful planning and efficient execution ensured the rehabilitation was completed on schedule, restoring the bridge before West Fraser’s logging operations began.
