Tourmaline Water Pond Project

Overview

GNB was contracted to install 453 driven piles around the Tourmaline Water Pond, forming a strong foundation for a bird netting system designed to deter wild birds from entering the ponds.

In addition, our team fabricated and installed custom outtake suction lines, ensuring full operational functionality for the site.

The Challenge

When the client required outtake suction lines on short notice, the project faced a potential delay. With limited availability of 30” x 30 meter pipe, GNB mobilized quickly—sourcing materials, custom-fabricating the suction lines in-house, and installing them in the field to keep the project moving on schedule.

Despite tight deadlines and logistical hurdles, our crew also installed all 453 piles efficiently and safely, meeting the client’s expectations without compromise.

Our Solution

GNB’s agility and fabrication expertise turned a last-minute request into a seamless success. By rapidly procuring materials and producing custom 30-foot welded pipe, we delivered a complete solution that kept the project on track.

The client was grateful for GNB’s responsiveness, quality workmanship, commitment to timelines, and our ability to adapt and deliver under pressure.

Key Challenges

This project came with several unique challenges:

Late design changes: The request for outtake suction lines came at the last minute, threatening to delay the entire project schedule.

Material constraints: Finding 30” x 30 meter pipe lengths on short notice proved difficult, requiring creative sourcing and fabrication solutions.

Tight timelines: With the client’s schedule already fixed, GNB had to coordinate rush material orders, in-yard fabrication, and on-site installation simultaneously.
